​I remember receiving a paint-by-number set as a small child and falling in love with the whole process of putting paint on a board.  I remember thinking, “This is so fun, and why isn’t everyone doing this ALL THE TIME??” Fast forward a few decades, and I still have that feeling every time I pick up a paint brush.  I hope that my artwork conveys that sense of joy. Although I haven't taken any formal art education, I have been fortunate to receive instruction from some excellent artists over the years.  

 

​My work is mainly done in acrylic, although I dabble occasionally with other media.  For many years I focused on the natural world, which is full of so much beauty.  I enjoy the meditativeness of being out in nature and find that you really start to notice the world around you when you take the time to paint it.  Over more recent years, I’ve become more interested in my own backyard (and living room) as sources of inspiration.  Vegetables from the garden or farmer’s market have provided an endless source of inspiration.

I currently live and work in Waterloo, Ontario, where I enjoy the effects of the changing seasons on the outside world as well as on interior scenes in my home.
